Mr. Dave

When Mr. Dave was asked by Tom Silverman to join his A&R Department at Tommy Boy Records (Warner Bros.), industry trade publications like Billboard, Hits, and CMJ took note. Prior to Tommy Boy, Mr. Dave was A&R at Payday/London Records (PolyGram) where he signed Jay Z, Group Home, and O.C.  As these were new artists on a relatively new label, Mr. Dave took a very "hands-on" approach to A&R.  He became actively involved in the artists' career moves, promotion, touring, and anything else where he could advance the label's and the artists' interests.

Mr. Dave's classic mentoring style paid off with substantial airplay, sales, Billboard chart action, and many frequent flyer miles!  His no-nonsense artist development philosophy coupled with his straight-talking business acumen have resulted in a winning combination.  Are you an up-and-coming A&R executive?  Want to discuss where the industry is heading in the 21st Century?  Are you wondering what trends are happening globally?  Interested in learning how artists and writers are "discovered" and signed? Want your music heard?  Then this is the meeting to attend!

Critique Session Rules:  Bring one cassette or CD. Cue it and label it with your name and song title. Only one song per cassette/CD is eligible.  Mr. Dave will listen to as many songs as time reasonably allows and in the order in which they are submitted at the door. Styles: Hip Hop and R&B.
