Terrie Williams

Having become the youngest Vice President ever at Essence Communications (publisher of Essence and Latina magazines), it should come as no surprise that Terrie Williams would later establish one of the country's premiere public relations firms.  The Terrie Williams Agency began in 1988 with Eddie Murphy and Miles Davis as the first clients.

Since then, the company has gone on to represent some of the best-known entertainment and sports figures and organizations, such as Sean "Puffy" Combs, Janet Jackson, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Sally Jesse Raphael, 20th Century Fox, AT&T, and HBO -- just to name a few.  Ms. Williams' success story has been widely documented in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Crain's New York Business, The New York Daily News and Spin magazine.

In 1994, Ms. Williams published her best-selling book, The Personal Touch: What You Really Need To Succeed in Today's Fast-Paced Business World, which features a Forward by Bill Cosby.  Many business workshops and learning institutions, such as The New School for Social Research, utilize the book as a guide and Ms. Williams as a lecturer.

Her book explains that the key to success in today's impersonal world is personal consideration: treat people with respect, be there for them, conduct yourself with integrity and compassion.  Ms. Williams will explain and take questions about how to start and maintain a successful business by building and maintaining relationships; tips on meeting and greeting to make a good first impression; building a reputation; and hitting it big by doing "little things."
