Designs Which Avoid Legal Problems Edited By Daniel E. Carter Introduction by James R. Higgins |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| With so many artists and entertainment companies uploading their own websites, coming up with an original and creative logo is becoming more difficult. If you don't spend the money to have a logo professionaly prepared by a designer and searched by an attorney, you will end up spending far more when you get sued for infringement. Interestingly, it was an infringement experience that inspired graphic designer David Carter to write the book. "...even though I have tried to block [the experience] from my memory, it still haunts me." So check out "Bullet-Proof Logos" and save yourself a lot of grief. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The book provides close to 200 pages of actual logo designs -- in full color -- that were prepared by various designers for actual clients. Not only is it great to have a reference library of winning designs, but 20 "Case Studies" are presented throughout explaining how and why the particular design was arrived at and what legal considerations were taken into account. The logos include some of the most well-known in the entertainment industry: NBC, The Muppet Puppets, the Sci-Fi Channel, as well as James Bond and other movies. "Bullet-Proof Logos," however, wisely includes non-entertainment industry logos: NYNEX, Samsung, Chevron, M&Ms and much more. The logos are broken down into 3 design types, and the elements of each type are explained. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The basics of trademark law are also covered in a short introductory section written by Mr. Higgins, an attorney. So in one neat book, you have legal basics, design basics, case studies, and plenty of examples from which to draw inspiration. Just be careful not to get too inspired -- you don't want to get sued for infringement! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
