Career Opportunities
in the Music Industry
A Comprehensive Guide to Exciting
Careers in Music or Music-Related Fields
By Shelly Field |
|
|
|
|
|
One of the most popular aspects
of The Circle is our constant drive to help people get jobs in
the industry. At almost each of our meetings, 6-12 pages of contact
information for job leads, internships and career opportunities
are distributed (click here for more information). |
|
|
So it is with great interest that
I procured a review copy of "Career Opportunities In The
Music Industry." Those who are investigating a career change
and are looking at the music industry as a possible direction
should check this book out. It would even help those who might
be burned-out in their present music industry position and are
considering an upward or lateral move. And, of course, "Career
Opportunities" would also benefit students entering the
job market -- guidance counselors should consider buying at least
one copy for their placement office. |
|
|
Detailed information is provided
about jobs such as A&R Administrator, Promotion Manager,
Personal Manager, Recording Engineer, Public Relations Counselor,
Elementary School Music Teacher, Choir Director, and many others
in the fields of Radio and Television; Music Retailing and Wholesaling;
Arenas, Facilities, Halls and Clubs, and much more. |
|
|
Two to three pages is devoted
to each position with information such as a job description,
salary range, educational and/or experiential prerequisites,
best geographical locations for the position, as well as an opinion
about the employment/advancement prospects (e.g., poor, fair,
good, excellent). |
|
|
The last 54 pages of the book
are devoted to the names, addresses and phone numbers of educational
institutions, unions and associations, record companies, record
distributors, booking agencies, music publishers and many other
employment contacts. A bibliography is also provided for further
research. |
