Music Is Your Business

  There is no set method to "making it big" in the music industry, and this book does its best not to lay down a "firm plan of action." That is part of the appeal; everything is merely a suggestion or an idea to build upon. It breaks down music marketing into "Four Fronts" -- Artist and Product Development, Promotion, Publicity, and Performance. Most of the ideas are tailored to apply universally to musicians, promotion companies, managers, record labels, lawyers, and anyone else interested in learning how to market independent music.
  The structure of the book gives it an edge over other similar "Do it yourself" guidebooks. If you only want to learn or review one thing in particular, you simply look it up and find it almost immediately. The book tries to address fresh topics such as, "Do You Really Need Your Own Barcode?" and even refers you to other books, websites, and companies that you may need to know about.
  Many similar books strive for the scholarly appearance and drab of a school textbook. Who has the time?  Not Mr. Knab.  Each chapter, for lack of a better word, is concise and right to the point. There is rarely an introduction or a wasted word. Get in, get out and get on it is the message; and if you are still reading this, you probably should have already ordered a copy.
